getting back on track…. I have so many photos to edit and caption and organize it is ungodly. I am spending hours at lee hills and on my computer working on it all so I am so sorry! I will type a real, legitimate update tomorrow (I hope).

Here is my weekend project, hitched a ride to St.Louis at 7am Saturday.

So it has been a long time……

September 22, 2009 granthindsley 1 comment

Hello everyone!

It has been a crazy week, and I realize I haven’t been able to post on my so called ‘daily’ photo blog. I have had an incredibly hard time this week, school has been busy, lots of assignments, exams etc. I am hoping that this week will be better. I won’t be shooting much this week however, my right eye has a problem. Doctor’s orders are no contacts for a week! This makes it just a bit rough to shoot, less than ideal I guess. Hopefully I will be posting more frequently though. Sorry for letting everyone down.

Here is a series of photos from the other night (about midnight) when my friends and I decided to make my little dorm into a studio. We used three wireless flashes and two studio lights. It was a blast. These are my favorites so far……

So sorry! For the lack of pictures…

I have had such a busy weekend and I apologize for blowing off posting.  I have been so tired and haven’t shot much else but football. I did however, learn a lot about shooting sports and football in general. They are as follows…..

-When in doubt, watch the guys that know what they are doing, because they are doing it for a reason.

-Don’t even bring a flash. It look unnatural and doesn’t balance with stadium lights well. It is a waste of effort to bring one and carry it. (note to self: learn flash better anyways)

-Try to avoid shooting in DX crop mode, shoot at your longest focal length, crop in post processing.

-Shoot tackles, catches, and the other team.

-Take way more shots than you would otherwise deem necessary.

-figure out a way to shoot faster than 5fps and a longer lens than 200mm on full frame. Thus I am now taking donations towards a battery grip and a 1.7x teleconverter! : D

just a dollar a person and I would be set!

Sorry for the lack of photos, but I did get 1500 views today! Wow!

Have a good tuesday, don’t forget about the donations! just kidding. Kind of.

Day 13…Missed a Day!

September 14, 2009 granthindsley 1 comment

Well, I apologize for missing a day. All day saturday I was with my dad and Nick Agro’s dad, due to it being parents weekend. Then I shot from 4pm on. I got to shoot football college football for the first time. I shot the first home game against Bowling Green. It was a blast to shoot and I got to go on the field. Here are some of my favorite shots I have noticed so far. I apologize in advance for the lack of captions, but try to enjoy! I did learn a lot from shooting this game. I really learned how to track the game and follow the action. At first I truly had no idea what I was doing the first quarter or two, but throughout the game I slowly got used to shooting football. I can’t wait to shoot another game because I am sure my results will be a lot better. But here are some of my favorites from the take….don’t mind the strange order, it is really late and I don’t feel like arguing with wordpress over the order of the pictures =]

Newman the Dog… Post 14!

Mini-Photo Series

This is a series of photos I took last saturday outside of ‘Which Wich?’ (a sandwich restaurant in downtown Columbia). The people pictured, Steve and Jill Graham, were kind enough to let me take photos of their wonderful dog Newman and themselves. I spotted them while eating at ‘Which Wich?’ and decided to go say hello! Steve and Jill have lived in Columbia for years and were just enjoying the beautiful afternoon sitting outside having a bite to eat and reading the paper. Newman, a ‘Golden-Doodle’ is a mix of Golden Lab and a Giant Poodle. Newman seemed to enjoy the sunny day the most. Newman was basking in the sun, greeting everyone that came by and of course, getting lots of cookies and snacks. Here are some photos of Steve and Jill enjoying a gorgeous day with their pup, Newman.

But that day I ate lunch with my oh-so-wonderful high-school journalism teacher. She came in to town because her daughter goes to Mizzou also, and when she comes in she visits her past students. She brought along her younger daughter, Josie. Josie had an infatuation with my cameras as you can see here….Take note of the camera strap coming up from the camera…=D

Then, finally we ventured into the countryside and took some pictures at a friends house. It is so unbelievably clear out here. I took this shot with just a 30 second exposure…..check out the satellite trail on the bottom left corner.

But enjoy the weekend! I should have some good stuff to post this weekend, so keep an eye out!

Biking was interesting to shoot. I had about 3 seconds to shoot each pass, and I got three of them. Haha, nine seconds total, but got a couple. Some might be a tad bit out of focus, but I hope you enjoy anways!

Have a great weekend,

Grant
